What Is M16 Connector ?

M16 connector is circular waterproof connector with 16mm thread, mostly widely used are M16 12 pin connector , M16 5 pin connector , M16 6 pin connector , M16 4 pin connector , and there are also 2 pin , 3 pin , 7 pin , 8 pin , 12 pin , 14 pin , 16 pin , 19 pin , 24 pin , A code 5 pin , 7 pin , 14 pin . The M16 cable connector comply with IEC 61076-2-106-2012 AISG Standard , CAZN AISG connectors have good outdoor protection performance and are suitable for antenna receivers in the field of wireless communication. They are also widely used in the fields of instrumentation, measurement and indoor sensors, pneumatic control, and pressure measurement, torque sensors, and motor speed sensors.

M16 Connector parameters

Shielding : Most of the M16 connectors have very good full shielding 360° performance , for the molded M16 connector have unshielded for option , normally for power applicaiton don’t need shielded , but for data and signal connection , shielded type using the reflection, absorption and skin effect of the metal shielding layer inside the connector to prevent electromagnetic interference and electromagnetic radiation, it has very good electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) characteristics.

Comply DIN IEC61076-2-106-2012 ASIG standard : It’s an international standard which specifies the standard of screw-locked circular M16 connectors, as well as the specifications of different protection levels such as IP40, IP65, IP67, etc. M16 connectors that comply with this standard can be compatible with each other, CAZN M16 connectors are compatible with Binder 423 series，Binder 723 series，and Amphenol C091D series.

Soldering :

Soldering is the most widely used and most economical wiring method for connectors. It is easy to operate and does not require complicated tools. It is suitable for contacts of different sizes. However, if the operator is not professional, the excessive temperature may cause potential damage to the connectors. In addition, the vibration resistance of the welding cable is worse than other connection methods, and after another period of time, due to the welding material, it may cause disconnection.

Crimping :

Crimping by crimping tool that uses pressure to connect the contacts to the wires. This connection method is safe and reliable, and is very suitable for harsh application environments.

The crimping method is simple and fast, forming an airtight seal between the connector and the cable, which is protected from moisture, sand, dust and oxidation. The crimping is easier to operate than welding, and the connection consistency is relatively high, which can reduce the connection failure rate.
But crimping tools are often more expensive, which indirectly increases the cost of crimping.

Screw connection :

The connection method of the screw does not require high professionalism of the operator. Under the condition of setting the strength, both the contact and the wire can be connected reliably and have very good anti-vibration performance.

Contact impedance ： ≤5mΩ ， Gold plating can reduce the contact resistance very well. Although the surface of the conductor looks smooth, under the observation of a magnifying glass, it can still be seen that there will be bumps and depressions on the surface of the conductor, which will lead to contact resistance，the lower contact impedance the higher connection performance.

Durability : 500 Cycles, Different types of connectors have different requirements for durability of connect and disconnect. For some connectors that need to be connected and disconnected frequently, the cycles will be higher, after waterproof connectors connected and they normally will not be disconnected again.The cycles of waterproof connectors is normally 500 times, the durability relates to the material of the contact body, the using method, the coefficient of friction, the plugging force, the depth of insertion and other factors. After more than 500 times, the contact resistance will generally increase,the reliability of the connector will decrease.

Wiring range : PG7:4~6mm；PG9:6~8mm, it’s factor of the cable assembly M16 connector , in order to have good waterproof performance , assembly M16 connector should connect with proper diameter of cables. While the cable OD too big , it couldn’t fit the M16 connector, if the cable OD too small, the waterproof performace will not be reliable.

Applicable temperature : -25℃ ~ +80℃ , beyond the temperature , the performance stability of the connector will be affected , such as connectivity , waterproof , and other features.
